My sister called yesterday.  She and her husband and two kids are back in the U.S. after 3 years in Germany!  At first they thought they'd be coming back to Texas but, alas, opportunity called them to MO.  I cannot wait to see them; was supposed to see them this summer in MI but we were just not able to make the trip.

Anyway, I answer the phone and Lynda says, "Cindy, I need some intervention."

Oh, my, I thought, what could be the problem?  Has she become a closet alcoholic?  Is her marriage on the rocks?  She had my attention immediately.

"Sure, Lynda, what's up?"

"I need to talk to someone level headed."

"Level headed?  Me?  Don't you read my blog anymore?"

"Uh, no.  I don't."  She continued, "I'm de-cluttering all this stuff I've collected over the years.  You know how much stuff I've collected?"

"Yes, you're a freaking pack-rat."

"Remember those dishes that mom got us from the IGA."

"You mean the gift-with-purchase dishes?"

"Yes.  Well, I gave them away this morning.  Do you think I did the right thing?"

"Lynda.  Do you realize how much Spam and Bunny Bread mom had to buy to collect 2 sets of service for 4 plus flatware?  You've been carrying this stoneware around the world with you for the past 23 years!"

"Yes!"

"Good grief, I gave mine away years ago!"

"I know, you gave them to me!  Some of these dishes were yours!"

"What!  You gave away my dishes?"

"You're kidding, right?"

"Lynda, you did the right thing."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, you done good.  Let it go; consider that someone else will be blessed by your generosity."

"Thanks, I just needed a sanity check."

"Yes, you do, er, did.  You know Lynda, I've missed this.  I'm glad you're back."
