In April, Chuck moved into some office space off Research Blvd. This was a big move for him, as he had been working from home since 2001. Chuck and a couple of guys he'd been collaborating with for the past couple of years decided that they'd all be more productive if they just joined forces and formed one entity. The move wasn't without substantial expense, though, and since the guys are bootstrapping the whole deal, it cut deeply into our personal finances.
One day, the two young guys were talking about how much it sucks to be broke and how if it sucks for them, just beginning their careers, it must REALLY suck for Chuck, who has tasted the sweetness of paying more in income taxes in a given year than the gross annual income of most families of 4.
When Chuck told me this I said, "You think it sucks for Chuck; try being Chuck's wife!"
The truth? One must really, really be in love to support a spousal career change that takes one from sipping Cosmopolitans at the Country Club to qualifying for food stamps.
