I was feeling a little sorry for myself yesterday and even a little bit forsaken.  I started to question why so many goofy things were happening; after all, we're just trying to make an honest living.  Then, I thought about Job, a man who walked blameless in the eyes of God and yet he was allowed to suffer horribly.

I told Chuck about my feelings and he said, "I'm sorry you've been feeling like Job, but, really, I mean, Job?  Do you remember what he went through?"

Yes, I remember:  He lost all his children, his house, his livestock and his crops.  He lost his health and was covered with excrutiating skin boils.  His friends told him he must have done something to deserve such vengeance from God.  His wife encouraged him to curse his God.  Yet, through the whole ordeal, he remained faithful, and even though he didn't understand why he was going through the trouble he was, he didn't curse God or, in his heart, believe he was being punished.  He accepted that God, as God, has the right and power to give and take away.  He is still God and therefore perfect and just and worthy of our worship.  Job was rewarded for his faith by having everything restored to him, and more.
