One of the reasons I wanted to go home to Northern Michigan last month was to attend my high-school 25-year reunion. 25 years! I’d looked forward to it for months and now, having missed it, I’m a little melancholy.

When we were talking about getting a dog, friends warned me against it. They told me about how hard it was to house break a puppy, how puppies so love to chew on everything – especially your favorite shoes, and how much like having a baby it would be to get a dog.
I smiled and nodded, but secretly I knew that our dog would be different.

It didn't take long for Pumkin to realize that our neighbors have a dog, Daisy. Likewise, Daisy seemed quite eager and excited to have a new playmate next door. After a day or two of barking and snarling at each other through the fence, the two appeared to reach mutual understanding and decided that no fence would come between their friendship.

I'm not one for making resolutions - too many years of making them and breaking them, I guess. We classic underachieving, procrastinator types have a problem with things like lists and schedules.
